Building A Department
Marketing, Sales and Reservations
In 2015 I joined the newly established Head Office team at Brindisa Tapas Kitchens restaurant group. Established in 2004 at the iconic Borough Market restaurant (Tapas Brindisa) they pioneered the movement of Spanish food in the UK. Over the years they grew organically, opening six restaurants in London and one in Barcelona, but had not established an internal marketing or communications function. I was given the incredible opportunity to build their marketing department from the ground up.
When I departed the company in 2019 I believe I had created a department that could rival any of our competitors transforming the business’s internal and external marketing. I had grown my team to three people and had formed and managed the Reservation and Events department. It was an incredible experience as working with such a small Head Office meant I worked across all areas of the business. One day I was developing menus with the Executive Chef one day and running a food festival. It also meant I had to be resourceful and over my three years I saved the company over £50k+ in design and technical fees by taking on the projects myself internally.
Unlike, most Marketing Managers I like to muck in, during my time at Brindisa I worked every event large or small, helped cover waitress shifts, supported the door and supported my team any way I could. I am so so proud of how my team continue to grow and develop as heroes of the hospitality.
